Nestlé brands coupons are widely available and easy to find. The company owns a variety of well-known brands and it’s easy to find promo codes and coupons to use online and in-store. Using coupons and promo codes is a great way to save money every day.

A Brief History Of Nestlé

Nestlé can trace its origins back to Switzerland in 1866. In that year, two separate businesses began their operations in Switzerland. The American Page Brothers opened the Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company in Cham, Switzerland and Henri Nestlé in the nearby town of Vevey developed a milk-based baby food for babies who did not have access to breastmilk.

Nestlé Expands

By 1988 both companies had expanded and were producing condensed milk and milk-based baby foods. They occupied the same markets and the competition was fierce. In 1905 the companies finally merged under the name The Nestlé and Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company.

Nestlé Gets A New Name

The company went on to expand its market and product range. They expanded quickly, merging with and acquiring a variety of brands. In 1997 the company took its current name and became known simply as Nestlé.

Nestlé in the News

Nestlé has faced much criticism and controversy over its many years. In the 1970’s and 1980’s there was growing concern over Nestlé’s marketing of their breast milk substitutes (baby formula). Nestlé was accused of aggressively marketing their baby formula to mothers, specifically in developing countries, as a superior form of baby feeding.

Nestlé faced boycotts in Europe and America. The boycotts finally ended when Nestlé agreed to adhere to an international marketing code set out by the World Health Organization.

Nestlé Philanthropy – Causes

In response to their negative image, Nestlé has developed extensive social responsibility programs. These programs aim to address some of the historical controversies that have plagued the company.

Nestlé has a long-standing interest in nutrition. It aims to give back to the community by investing in and promoting nutrition, more specifically childhood nutrition in middle and low-income countries. In 1966, Nestlé provided a philanthropic grant to establish the Nestlé Foundation which manages these community-based nutrition projects.

Nestlé believes in giving back to its community of workers. By providing jobs, skills, and training, Nestlé helps the rural communities where the operation diversifies their income and improves their quality of life.

Despite having faced so much criticism and controversy, Nestlé now seems committed to building healthy communities and encouraging good childhood nutrition.
