How 7-Eleven Gift Cards Work

Gift cards work a lot like credit cards, only they’re pre-paid and meant for a specific store. So if you receive one for 7-Eleven, you can pick out items from the store and pay for them using the money stored on the card.

Gift cards for the popular convenience store are available in increments of $5-$100. You can buy them in any 7-Eleven store, though at this point you can’t buy them on the website. The card can then be used to buy many of the store’s offerings – from Slurpees to magazines to milk.

Gift cards aren’t to be confused with the points you earn with your 7 Rewards account. Rewards are earned with qualifying purchases, whereas gift cards are loaded up with money that can be spent at 7-Eleven stores.

You can’t earn rewards when you buy a gift card, and you can’t purchase gift cards using your rewards points balance.

How to Use Your Gift Card

You can use your gift card to purchase most of the items 7-Eleven sells: toys, beverages, and snacks. You can’t, however, use the gift card to buy gas or other gift cards.

Not sure what the balance is on your 7-Eleven card? No problem. You can call the number on the back of the card for customer service. Read your card number to the representative to get your balance. You can also visit a store to find out how much is left on the card. Ask the person working the til or make a purchase and see your balance printed on the receipt.

Here’s how it works: sign up in-store and use a 7Rewards card to collect points. Simply show your card checkout each time you buy qualifying items (you’ll earn 10 points for each dollar you spend). Then sign in to your account to check your 7Rewards points balance and see what you’ve earned. When you’re ready to redeem, you’ll get a barcode you can scan at checkout.

Or download the 7-Eleven app for opportunities to collect even more points by playing games and participating in activities when you’re not at the store. Through the mobile app, you can earn extra points by buying bonus points items, or by shopping on consecutive days. Through the app you can also earn free coffee through the 7th cup program – buy 6 coffees, and get a free cup!

7-Eleven also offers “Punch” programs, which you’ll hear about in-store, or by the email or phone number associated with your rewards account. Through the program, you can earn Punch rewards (a certain free product) by buying a set number of other items.
